Brandi L. Martin Named 2001-2005 Boneal Scholar

Means, Kentucky The Boneal Corporate Offices announced today that the recipient of the second annual Four Year $10,000 Scholarship is Brandi L. Martin of Means, KY. In announcing the award Dr. Keith Gannon, President and CEO of Boneal, said, "Brandi is a very deserving young lady and we are confident that her capabilities, goals and pending endeavors are destined to have a tremendous long-term impact on Brandi, her parents and our community".

We had outstanding applicants for this years Boneal Scholarship, and we are pleased to announce the beginning of another planned phase of the scholarship program, the Boneal Merit Scholarship. Merit scholarships will be for one year duration in the amount of $1,000 and are presented to deserving students and the college of their choice, said Gannon. This year there are three Boneal Merit Scholarship recipients. They are, Shelly Blackburn who will be attending Morehead State University; Kelly Human who has been admitted to Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond and Carlee Windon who plans to major in education at Morehead State.

Mr. C.J. Bailey, Director of Marketing and Public Affairs at Boneal will be making the appropriate arrangements with all the institutions for the award winners scholarships to be presented. Bailey said, We at Boneal are truly blessed with being able to reward these young students with a scholarship to mark their achievements and hard work. We believe that our efforts in support of higher education for the young people of Menifee County will be returned by them to our community many times fold.

Georgetown College is the college of choice for Brandi Martin where she will enroll this fall and major in political science with a minor in either computer science or psychology. She is the daughter of Ben and Glenda Martin of Means, KY. In her letter of application Brandi said, "During my lifetime I have run upon many obstacles and milestones that have helped shape the path of my future. Another is approaching. I have decided that furthering my education will be instrumental in the plans that I have for my life".

Bonnie L. Redditt, Director of Foundation and Corporate Relations at Georgetown College, in her letter of initial collaboration with the Boneal Scholarship Program, said, "The company should be commended for such corporate responsibility in seeking to help students from its own community succeed". Arrangements for Brandi, and her parents to participate with the appropriate Georgetown College administrators for the scholarship presentation on campus is currently in progress and it is anticipated by Bailey that this event will occur in late summer or shortly before the 2001 falls semester begins.
