Innovative Engineering Immediately Adds Value to Toro ® and Husqvarna ® Power Equipment.
Customers
Power equipment industry leaders, Toro and Husquvarna (a division of Electrolux)
Customer Need
Engineering analysis revealed that standard Toro and Husquvarna riding lawnmowers can be readily converted to premium zero-radius turn machines via addition of patented steering techology held by the Boneal subsidiary, The Lonmore Company.
Project Summary
Power equipment market research showed that base model residential riding lawnmowers from Toro and Husqvarna were optimal candidates for usage of Lonmore Zero Radius Steering (ZRS) patented steering technology. Machines were selected based on current market share and thus, the likelihood zero-radius modified models could readily capture a percentage of rapidly growing demand for mowers with zero-radius steering capability. Machines were modeled and analyzed using 3-D engineering software. ZRS technology was engineered into existing machine bodies and chassis. Working models were built, field tested and demonstrated.
Result Summary
Addition of Lonmore zero-radius steering converted commodity residential riding mowers to premium zero turn products without adding cost to the final vehicles. This opens the door for producers of commodity products to one of the fastest growing segments of the power equipment industry. Negotiations are underway with several outdoor power equipment industry leaders for the license of ZRS technology.
